Our Garden
Young Spirits Garden
Once upon a time there was doom and gloom in the backyard of Feathers. The walls were dull and lifeless, rubble lay outside the door, and it was a place where you nipped outside only when you had to.
Along came 1 little boy, from the world of spirit, who, along with the support of his 3 brothers, also with him in spirit, wanted to change all that - and so was born the idea of the 'Young Spirits Garden'
Josh Young, a wonderful little lad, was sadly taken from this earthly plane along with his 3 brothers. His grandmother Phyllis is a regular visitor to Feathers, and is herself learning to be a fledgling medium. I asked Tracey, our resident poet, if she would compose a poem for the boys, explaining to those who visited Feathers, why there are yellow roses on the mantlepiece in Feathers front room. You see the boys always gave their Nan Phyllis a yellow rose, and during our first ever meeting with Phyllis, this is what the boys told us that they were giving to her. Phyllis told us that when the boys were alive, that is what they gave to her.
Tracey went away to write her poem, and when she came back and read it to me, it brought tears to my eyes. However what happened next was absolutely wonderful. She said that as she was writing the poem, a young lad from spirit kept popping in and out of the room, he told her his name was Josh. Tracey asked me if I knew who he was, and I told her that he was the eldest of the 4 boys that she had written the poem for. I had never given Tracey the names of the boys, and the only thing I had told her was that I wanted a poem writing that would explain that the roses represented 4 little boys in the spirit world. Josh had gone on to tell her that he wanted a poem writing for his mum, and that he wanted to talk to his nan. So I rang Phyllis and she came down straight away. Tracey told Phyllis some marvelous things from her grandsons, it was very moving, and completely from the heart.
Josh also told Tracey that he wanted to have a garden at Feathers, somewhere where parents and grandparents could come and sit and enjoy a lovely cheerful garden created by spirit children. We thought this quite impossible as we only have a small back yard. However, he put the idea into Traceys mind, and the rest, as they say is history.
All of us at Feathers have been working hard to transform a dull area into somewhere quite magical. A place where parents and grandparents can come and plant flowers for their youngsters, or add their loved ones names, and write messages in our childrens message book. It was certainly a lovely idea, and one that all of us here at Feathers are very proud to be part of.
If you would like to come and share in the garden, please feel free to come and join us, you will be most welcome.
